Description
The ES24 PIR Sensor Stair Light Controller automates step-by-step stair lighting using two motion sensors and a built-in daylight sensor. As someone approaches, the lights sweep on in the direction of travel; after a set delay they sweep off again. In daylight, the controller simply stays idle.
It drives two independent SPI (TTL) outputs at once — one for the stair treads, one for a continuous accent run — so a single unit can handle a full staircase installation.

Key Features
- Bi-directional PIR sensing — two sensor heads detect approach from either end of the staircase
- Built-in daylight (LUX) sensor with adjustable threshold, so lights stay off when ambient light is sufficient
- Two simultaneous SPI (TTL) outputs: stair steps plus a separate colour light flow channel
- 24 steps as standard, expandable to 72
- Drives up to 720 pixels total
- OLED display with three-button setup — no app or programming required
- 12 colour modes including static colours, queue, chase, fade and user-defined RGB
- Four on/off sequences: sequential or simultaneous, independently for turning on and off
- 8-level brightness and 8-level speed adjustment
- Off-delay adjustable from 5 seconds to 10 minutes
- Wide 5–24V DC input suits 12V or 24V LED systems
Two Ways to Run Your Stairs
White light steps — each tread gets its own single-colour LED strip driven by an ES-F step sub-controller. Twenty-four ES-F units and an 11 m 24-way connection cable are included in the box, so a standard staircase is covered out of the box.
Colour light steps — drive addressable RGB pixel strip directly, with up to 90 pixels per step. Default is 24 steps at 10 pixels each.
Either mode can run alongside the second output, which controls a continuous colour light flow along a handrail, skirting or feature wall.
Addressable IC Compatibility
Supports 18 driver ICs with selectable R/G/B order: TM1804, TM1809, TM1812, TM1829, TM1914A, UCS1903, UCS1909, UCS1912, UCS2903, UCS2909, UCS2912, UCS2603, UCS5603, WS2811, WS2812, GW6205, GS8206/GS8208, SM16714D and SM16703P.

Installation Notes
- Mount PIR sensors 1–1.5 m above floor level for wall installation, or up to 3 m for ceiling mounting
- Keep sensors clear of direct sunlight, air conditioning outlets, heaters and any source of steam or moving warm air
- Ensure nothing obstructs the detection cone — screens, furniture or planters will cause missed triggers
- Where SPI strip load stays under 20A, one power supply can run both the controller and the strip. Above 20A, use separate supplies and connect only DATA and GND between them
A 5–24V DC constant voltage LED driver and LED strip are required and sold separately. Not sure what capacity you need? Try our Power Supply Calculator, or get in touch and we'll spec it for you.
